Decades back…
“Maa……aaa, look who has come……” I and my brother shouted loud being extremely excited to see my maternal uncle ‘Mamma’…… We both jumped on his lap….. Keeping his luggage in the side, he lifted both of us, kissed us tenderly…..
Maa came running……..I could see the eye-drops on all four eyes very clearly……
“Did you get my letter?” Maa was curious.
“Yes. That’s why Maa and Dewta, both insisted me to come and see your baby.” Mamma replied.
Our younger sister was just three months old then. Maa wrote a letter to her parents. The distance between our house and grandparents house was almost 350 kilometers. Two buses used to run on that way…..one was day super and another was night super. Extremely difficult communication system!
Gone are days now. That’s a matter of oblivion. But, I remembered the incident suddenly when I got a call from my mother last week.
“Momie, the screen of my mobile became black…..I can just hear it ringing, but nothing shows up! What should I do??? Plzzz help! Today is Independence day, tomorrow is Sunday….all shops are closed! What should I do…….!!!” Maa became restless, as if something extremely precious she is missing.
Then I compared her situation with mine….why she won’t be restless. I too feel helpless, restless, what not, if I don’t have internet for some hours……I am not even talking about mobile set.
Yes……that’s the changes…changes in us, in our lifestyle. How we feel if someone has sent an e-mail or a video on Whatsapp or asked us to check some updates on Facebook, and we cannot download or check because of connectivity?
Where life is going….really??? Where the technology is taking us!!! Isn’t it too amazing??? I am soooo excited and happy to get 4G connectivity offered by Airtel now!
