Lovely trip to Kerala and Tamil Nadu

Planned to do a world tour, all set with the plots to write few novels, prearranged to pen down a few short stories & articles, intended to have a fishery in the backyard of the farm house in Kaziranga, put one big umbrella, tame cattle and ducks, do lots of plantation, and regularly visit there for fishing, relaxing and to enjoy the chirping, serene, tranquil environment ……..Yes, so many plans my Dad had for after-retirement.

But destiny had some other plans for him.Diabetes’ invaded my father's body, started dwelling comfortably and gradually started ruling his life for more than a decade now. Influenced most of the body parts to make him weaker. His good luck brought him back from the Entrance of Heaven many times. He is a regular visitor of many hospitals, clinics. Pharmacies, be it in Assam, Delhi, Bangalore started offering special discounts as an extremely regular customer. In fact, during the last one year of his service, he was bed ridden most of the time.

He is now in second year of his retirement. His eye-sight does not allow him to read or write, but recently he has completed 5 short stories in a month. Busy bee during the years of his service, he hardly used to get enough time for vacations. He recently wished to travel to Kerala, God’s own country. So, with his all mental strength, we were all set to drive down to Kochi, Alleppey,  Kovalam beach in Kerala, and Kanyakumari and Madurai in Tamil Nadu…..

Our first destination was Kerala….one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Asia! Tranquil stretches of emerald backwaters in Alleppey, tempting fish fries……the refreshing taste of Tadi, an endless sight of coconut trees. Play with the waves  of the mighty Arabian sea at Kovalam beach, the song of fishermen while pulling the net out of the sea, touch of the syrupy breeze while walking on the beach and  the awesome sight of the waves lashing on the rocks. Above all, take an Ayurvedic massage.

At Kanyakumari, feel yourself in the southern tip and southernmost point of the Indian Subcontinent, enjoy the beauty and depth of the sea, shop from the extremely low priced market. Just Wow!!! Visit Madurai, the temple City…..adore the splendor of the Minakshi Mandir.

Yes…..we enjoyed so much……but it was divine to see my parents enjoying to their fullest. Feeling blessed!!!
